Monica Thoresen was born and raised in the Midwest (namely Illinois and Minnesota) and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She studied Speech Pathology/Audiology as well as Spanish Language and Literature. Her senior year of college she studied abroad in Madrid, Spain to complete her Spanish degree. She received her Master of Science degree and Bilingual English-Spanish Certificate from Marquette University in 2004, got married, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona to begin working as a Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist in the public school system.
Over the past 14 years Monica has provided both bilingual and monolingual speech/language therapy services to Arizona’s children in a variety of educational and home-based settings. She specializes in providing bilingual evaluation and treatment of children age birth through 18 years of age, distinguishing whether the child presents with a true language impairment or exhibits differences due to bilingualism or characteristics consistent with second language acquisition.
Monica lives in south Phoenix with her husband and four children (ages 11, 9, 7, and 5). In her free time she enjoys doing yoga, running and hiking outside (when the weather permits!), curling up with a good book, or heading to the beach with her family.
